tempayan3

It all started with a dreams to have a nice Restaurant which represent Indonesian cuisines, a place where sophisticated meet authentic taste in a new Indonesian “rumahan” dining experience. The place itself will entertain you to a special atmosphere where you can feel a homey colonial touch in a Javanese interior. The owner, Ibu Titi Rahardjo said that she did all the hunting for every single piece of antiques in this restaurant, she wanted to make this place for customers to feel like home at Tempayan Dining & Lounge. And I’m very sure that she did it!

tempayan4

tempayan5

This is one of the places that you can see wayang or Javanese traditional puppet in some area near the dining tables. Not only chairs and dining table with fine dining style, but also there’s a quite large sofa in a corner of the room. If you want to eat while relaxing, this is the corner that you can use with the family to enjoy lunch or dinner. With some old artsy decorations and ornaments, and they used a lot of wood element here. However, the arrangements were very homey even with the fancy chandeliers and wine glasses on the table.

tempayan6

Tempayan also have a private room for your needs. Located at the corner of the room with a door that have a quite catchy colors, green and blue, this red painted private room can accommodate approximately up to 15 people. Accommodated with a plasma TV, large table and wooden benches. The room decor is also vintage and interesting.

tempayan7

This is our first time coming here. Accompanied with Virginia the PR of this amazing place and Ibu Titi Rahardjo herself, we tried some of their menu. The first one is Nasi Goreng Kulit Ayam, is one of the signature menu from this original theme Indonesian culture restaurant. Savory rice with soy sauce flavor that is quite thick also there’s shredded chicken, cabbage, mustard greens.

tempayan8

Not only that, this fried rice is also equipped with a sprinkling of shredded meat around it. And also pieces of fried chicken skin cooked with bacem herbs. Sweet and savory flavors blend perfectly in this Indonesian cuisine. Sambal Bajak who becomes the ideal blend of spicy and savory sour taste of pickles. Blend of textures and flavors that vary make the fried rice becomes very yummy.

tempayan8

Another menu is Sate Ayam Sindoro. The chicken satay with peanut sauce is very tasty and tender. The chicken is cooked very well. Not charred and cooked very good from outside into the inside. The dish served  with soy sauce with sliced peppers, red onions, and fresh tomatoes.

tempayan9

We also have the chance to try their Udang Bakar Dewata. This grilled tiger prawns is also a-must-try menu here. They marinate the prawns with their menu recipes that have been made for generations. This dish served together with vegetables and soy sauce.

tempayan10

Tempayan, the name itself is taken from a container, placed in front of the house in antiquity that contains water and is provided for the traveler who wants to obtain drinking water. Thus, the owner wanted this place to be a place for everyone who wants to eat, relax, and enjoy live music.

The Prohibition Chophouse & Speakeasy Bar: The Classic Ambiance & Style of Mid America in 1920s

Prohibition placed on the 2nd floor in Plaza Senayan Arcadia, features an authentic Art Deco interior design, bringing the classic ambiance and style of mid America in the 1920s. Their themed restaurant and bar concept reflects the1920’s Prohibition era.

The Chophouse serves “food fit for gangsters” and classic Prohibition era cocktails, and the Speakeasy Bar is a members club for engaging, mature and refined gentlemen offering one of Jakarta’s best selections of premium spirits, single mall whiskies and imported cigars.

Prohibition interior design reflects 1920s-30s art deco era, and features carefully selected artifacts, memorabilia, murals and photographs from the time period.

Prohibition’s target market can be described as people who like the finer things in life. The wealthy and discerning, successful and highly motivated, who like nothing more than to relax with good friends, a fine Cuban cigar and a glass of single malt whisky. Speakeasy members entertain a lot, so they demand both fine dining and excellent service, and discreet spaces to discuss their business and pleasure.

Their Chophouse restaurant concept caters to all who enjoy the best prime steaks, fresh flown seafood, pastas and fine wine. During lunch PROHIBITION enjoys fashionable, well-groomed groups of women and business executives, while dinner becomes the after-work hangout for businessmen, the families and friends.

One of their signature menus is Prime Ocean Cold Platters, lobsters, oysters, king crab, prawns, sea urchin & baby winkles, served on ice with shallot, vinegar, lemons, homemade mayonnaise, and bread basket.

Gangster Meat Platter, combine with these following choices: US Tenderloin, Striploin, Prime Rib Eye, Spring Chicken or Lamb Cutlet.

Revitalizing the forgotten age of Classic Cocktails that were enjoyed in the Prohibition era, mixed by craftsmen bartenders, utilizing the freshest ingredients, which balance sweet, sour and the strength of the alcohol.

One of them is Mint Julep, created in the 18th century and became the drink of the famous Kentucky Derby. Mixes crushed mint, with homemade mint syrup, topped with American whiskey, and served over crushed ice in the original silver cup.

And also there’s Sangria, a Spanish and Portuguese variation from a wine punch that has been around for hundreds of years, mixes brandy, orange liqueur, squeezes of orange and lemon. Then sweetened with homade golden syrup and topped with dry red wine, served with cuts of fruits.

Prohibition’s classic bar utensil and glassware, plus an informative cocktail menu provides a historical perspective, where each legendary cocktail has its own history written in order to educate their guests.

Chronicle – Where Coffee Meets Cocktails

This sister restaurant of the renowned coffee shop, Common Grounds nestled itself in front of Dharmawangsa Square earler this month. Embellishing itself with a cozy, and homey feel - Chronicle answers the need for both coffee & cocktail addict with their thrilling menus.

chronicle1

Like other coffee places, Chronicle has same the type of decoration, there’s not many colors adorn the space. This place is more like simple with woodenly ambience, and very cozy. Newly opened on 12 November and built on the idea of a newspaper, Chronicle represents the needs of the coffee drinkers and cocktail lovers because both are provided here.

chronicle2

“Chronicle is actually a newspaper name at San Fransisco. We wanted to provide people with coffee, cocktails, and food as their everyday ritual, just like daily paper,” Hanna Tjin explained.

chronicle4

Chronicle is a sister company of one of the well-known coffee shop in the Sudirman area, namely the Common Grounds Jakarta. So no wonder we'll find Common Grounds Coffee being used there.

chronicle6

Hanna welcomed us and let us try Chronicle Benedict, beef bacon wrapped poached egg served on garlic toasted yummy bread. This is one of the best menu here.

chronicle7

Lobster Roll, the lobster was beautifully seasoned with diced avocado, tomatoes and all together tossed in their special mayo sauce and citrus flavor, and the bun was perfectly semi-crunchy and goes with the awesome french fries.

chronicle8

chronicle10

One of the cocktails recommended by Hanna, who also mixologist cocktails here, namely Sorbet Mimosa. Actually this is one of Hanna's own creations, alcoholic orange sorbet served cold collaborate with champange which is very fresh and tasted very good.

chronicle11

chronicle13

Their copper coffee sets and prism coffee cups are also unique, this place is still the only place who mixed and served tea and coffee using copper sets.

chronicle12

And, their artisan tea closed the day. They have White Peony, Lemongrass Ginger and Hibiscus Blackcurrant from Jing.

Tredici Ristorante - Little Italy in the Heart of Jakarta

Tredici, which is 'thirteen' in Italian - represents the 13 shareholders. The place envisioned itself to be a homey Italian restaurant to offer authentic Italian food, done the right and proper way.

The ambiance and decor was as praiseworthy as their food. Set up to be a what seem to be a very rustic villa in Italy, with all those wood material applied all over the interior, jazz music playing along, dim warm lighting and simply the whole little trinkets. Decked out in blue and white with light wood and faux grass covering one wall, it possesses all the elements of a laid back chic restaurant.

WNJ first arrival was awesome, Stella, one of the owners kindly took us around the place.  The place was very nice. Stella also told us that the owners wants this place to be more like a small villa in Italy, where the ambience is really warm and just exactly like Tredici wants us to feel. The outdoor area is not exactly outdoor, it is more like the area with more access to the natural light. So, you don’t have to worry when the rain comes, you won’t be wet ;)

As for the menu, they have Italian, off course! Every customer who came will get their Complimentary Bread. The bread was homemade by Tredici, you must have them while they're still warm, the cheese stick is very tasty, the bread is also great and crunchy.  The basket portion came with pesto sauce for dipping, which was really good for a starter.

After we had our complimentary bread, we had Tortellini Di Zucca; pumpkin tortellini, mushroom, sausage, butter sage sauce. It is a typical Christmas dish, but most Italian people love it throughout the whole winter with the wonderfully thick-fleshed, orange-red pumpkin.

When it comes to Italian, then there always be risotto, try their Arancini Balls; Italian risotto balls, contains turkey, mushroom, truffle oil, coated with breadcrumbs and deep fried, comes with marinara sauce.  A different way to enjoy risotto, Yummy!

Pizza! Tredici made their Mare Pizza very good.  It is a thin crust pizza topped with mozzarella cheese, with the tomato sauce, squid, shrimp, mussels, and the green olives. This restaurant cooks their pizzas the Italian way in a wood fire oven.

The must try dessert here is; Crespella Nocciola, a homemade crepe with banana brulee, hazelnut chocolate, and vanilla gelato.

For more information, they also have turkey menu, Tacchino Delle Feste;  turkey steak, with brandy cream gravy and homemade blueberry jam, goes with stewed vegetable and mashed potato. And also one of their signature menu; Costole Di Maiale Alla Trentina, it’s grilled pork chops with apple mustard sauce, potato gratin, and sauteed season vegetables.

Oh ya, they also have a bar upstairs, namely 13 Monkeys with Carson Quinn as the consultant. This one you should check out also!

All Italian goodness are here, the ambiance and decor was as praiseworthy as their food, so what are you waiting for?
